I’m on Day 11 of using natural deodorant. I’m starting to stink! The internet google searches stated that week 1 of natural deodorant would seem normal. However, in week 2, it said you would begin to stink. That is what happened – I started to stink. On day 8, I was walking around a town window shopping when I noticed I was a wee bit sweaty. However, it was also my first day trying The Takesumi Detox Charcoal Deodorant after a week of Arm & Hammer natural deodorant.
The first week I used the Arm & Hammer natural deodorant, and that week I didn’t experience any stink. But the first day of using The Takesumi Detox Charcoal Deodorant, I was like, I am gross.
It was on Day 10 that I started to stink. I was at an eye doctor’s appointment. It was warm out, and I had to wear a mask at the appointment, and I started hot flashing under my mask (pure misery.) I tried fanning myself but was still soaking wet with sweat in the waiting room. And then, in the eye exam room, I was like, “oh my god, he’s going to think I’m a dirty hippie.” There was nothing I could do about the stank. I went into the bathroom to rinse up. I tried rubbing alcohol; I tried Soft Soap. Nothing helped; everything made it worse.
Aluminum plugs up the sweating glands on your pits so you can’t sweat. It takes a week or so to completely dissipate, which is why the stink is the worst around the second week of the aluminum detox.
Day 11 (today) wasn’t much better. I went running after work. I didn’t think I smelled that bad, but then I took a cotton ball of hydrogen peroxide and rubbed it on my pits. Peroxide can draw infection out and bring it to the surface to be washed away. The peroxide drew out the worst stinkiness I’ve ever experienced on myself. After many years of using Dove 48-hour spray and never stinking, I didn’t think I could stink this bad. I immediately jumped into the shower and stayed there for a long time.
It will be interesting to see what happens next. More than everything, I think this post is an advertisement for Dove 48-hour spray. I hope the stink goes away soon! I should have done this detox during the early pandemic when we didn’t leave our house for two months.
