The CVS robot calls me every time I have a prescription. Then I get reminders about every prescription that has ever expired since the beginning of time. I only have one regular prescription, but I think I get more calls from CVS than all other calls combined. The voice of the CVS robot is annoying, like (cue: hunt for more annoying sound ever…) Squealing brakes on a bicycle? Chalk on a blackboard? If he’s a real human who was recorded rather than a robot, I feel bad for anyone who is around him, ever.
I found the instructions for stopping these calls. You have to listen to his awful voice when going through the automated system to cancel the robocalls. Afterward, you hopefully will never hear his voice again.
Turning off Automated Calls for CVS Pharmacy prescriptions:
Logging into your account online and turning on pharmacy text alerts usually stops automated calls. However, if you are receiving these calls and would like them to stop, you should follow these steps:
- Call 1-800-746-7287 from the phone number currently receiving the calls
- Say “More choices”
- Say “Calls”
- The system will confirm your phone number
- Say “Stop”
- Say “Correct”
Additionally, you can set up an online CVS account to adjust your preferences. After setting up your account, go to My Account – Prescription Management and Delivery – Prescription Messaging. At this time (as I’m checking), it looks like you have to permit robocalls to get text alerts. I don’t see an option for just text alerts. I also don’t see an option for emails *just* when you need a prescription. Their messaging is a mess.
Since I appear to have shut off all messaging, including texts and emails, I can check the website for prescription status.
This is still better than the “old way” of doing things. Way back when, you had to phone in for every prescription refill, and every time they would ask for your prescription number! I’d always be like, “I have no freaking clue.” I’d try to keep the paper prescription stapled to my generic Flonase nasal spray, but I’d always misplace it. I still have no idea where all my prescription labels go…
