Hello Fresh – Box #1

I decided to try Hello Fresh! I had never tried a meal kit delivery service before, and it looked fun! There are several offer codes that make your first few boxes very cheap, and if you use Rakuten you can get it for even cheaper. My first box ended up costing $10, and then it will cost about $30/each for the next three boxes. (They will be full price after the introductory offer is up.)

For my first box, I ordered all vegetarian (they don’t offer vegan): hoisin-sesame roasted veggie bowls, chickpea-powered couscous, and salsa verde enchiladas.

My first box is pretty amazing. It arrived on ice.

There were three “meal” bags in the box.

The ingredient spread in each bag was pretty spectacular. This is the ingredients for the hoisin sesame roasted veggie bowls.

I had a description of the finished product.

I also got step-by-step instructions for cooking it.

The food prep was fun! It took me about 15 minutes longer than it should have, but it was easy to make.

I added chicken to my boyfriend’s bowl.

My bowl was vegetarian. I’d eaten very little protein today, so I also had a hard-boiled egg.

Even with the lack of protein, this was a very impressive meal. The recipe for the spicy mayo was the most amazing: sour cream, mayonnaise, sriracha and soy sauce. Yum!
