I am rocking the thrifty! Last weekend I was a little worried because I’d already spent 73% of my budget for the month. However, today is 10/18, I have 2 weeks left to October, and I’ve only spent $100 in the past week. Not bad and I may actually beat my goal! My spending this week: I had a coupon for a free half-hour massage and I gave a $20 tip — I’m thrifty, but not cheap. I also spent about $35 on groceries, $25 on gas, and maybe another $15 on randomness.
Thrifty gas: I found out that if you have Sheetz card you can save $0.03/gallon. Seems like not much but that $0.36 adds up over the course of a year! 🙂 Well, maybe not that much but it’s fun anyway. And we got a free m&ms with the Sheetz card.
Thrifty groceries: With a combination of Aldi’s and Food Lion, and we spent $34/each on groceries this weekend, hopefully enough to last the whole week.
Thrifty fun randomness: We did an urban walk today — we started at a bike shop downtown, did some window shopping, stopped into Ace Hardware (they have free popcorn for customers!), walked to another bike shop, and then circled around, walking through some industrial areas and along some tracks, before returning to the start. An urban stroll, a fun weekend that included 2 breweries, an amazing 25-mile bike ride, some street food, grocery stopping and gas, and I spent less than $70 total this weekend. Not bad for a recovering spendaholic!
