Lately, I have been trying to find ways to detox and be healthier. One thing that’s been on my mind is deodorant and antiperspirant. I have been especially worried about aluminum and what it could be doing to my health.
For many years, I’ve been using Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant. That stuff works. This is a 20.2% aluminum spray that kills any smell that might come within 50 feet of your armpits. This stuff is so strong that you don’t wear deodorant; deodorant wears you. This stuff is so strong that if you walk by a garbage can, it will extend its forcefield and make the trash can smell “sheer cool.”
However, I’ve heard for many years that aluminum is bad for you. So, I decided to do an armpit detox. Here we go!
Day 1: I shopped on Ulta this morning. It happens. I have a birthday gift coming anyway, and I had to buy $35 worth of stuff to get free shipping. So I purchased The Takesumi Detox Charcoal Deodorant on a whim. It won’t arrive for about ten days (free shipping takes time!) In the meantime, I asked my partner to borrow one of his Arm & Hammer natural deodorants until my expensive stuff comes in the mail. I used a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol on my pits pre-shower to clean them, and I also used a salt scrub on them.
I’ve heard that natural deodorant doesn’t have antiperspirant, so it will handle the smell but not the sweat. I’ve also heard that there’s a detox period of 2-4 weeks where you’ll smell worse before it gets better. Let’s see if this works! I have a few days when I’ll be going into the office, so on those days, I’ll use the aluminum spray. Wish me luck!
