Today was day two of my hiking adventure. I went to Weymouth Woods State Park. I first went to the Visitor’s Center to get my passport stamp, and then I hiked around the main section of the park.
After that, I drove to another section of the park to see the oldest longleaf pine in the world, estimated to be 472 years old.
The tree is very hard to find — they don’t want someone to vandalize it. You have to drive down a dirt road to the “Boyd Tract” of the park to find it.
Afterward, I went to downtown Southern Pines – cute town, though a little upscale for my taste.
Then, I went to Southern Pines Brewing Company and had a couple taster-sized beers.
Finally, I went to Sanford and walked around, before driving home. I got ice cream at a gorgeous pizza/gelato restaurant. I must go to there for pizza sometime.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
