Friday I’m in… What day is it, Anyways?

I have been in quarantine for over 4 weeks. I may have gone insane but at least I’ve accomplished all the things:

I’ve run 36 miles, biked 80 miles and hiked at least 100. I’ve lifted weights for a backbreaking 14 of the last 28 days. We’ve ordered takeout twice: once Thai and once pizza. I drove to the chiropractor once and to the grocery store maybe 6 times. I went into the office 4 times. Instead of going to Dollar Tree, I’ve purchased things from Amazon for 10x the price.

I’ve taken online classes: beginners guide to birding, basic survival and urban survival, environmental educator workshops, and a class on drawing for kids. I taught myself how to knit. I may take more “art” classes, like basic drawing, etc. Yay!

I’ve had 782 zoom calls, 453 million text conversations, and I’ve pet my cat Tina 77,777 times.

Our cat, Tina, appreciates the extra attention.

I’ve spent 28 hours staring into space, 22 hours doing yard work, and I’ve put an entire tube of Benedryl cream on my poison ivy. I got bit by 45 fire ants in like 30 milliseconds.

I counted 45 bites.

Friday night, on the third night of Passover, we had a nontraditional family Zoom Passover seder. For the first time in my life, I put a Passover plate together with substitutions for everything I didn’t have on hand:

The salt water, egg, and olive are traditional. However, the traditional shank bone was substituted with a pizza crust. We substituted the parsley with broccoli, and the horseradish with kale. Instead of making charoset, I made chocolate marshmallow fluff with apples. I had no matzoh, so instead I used graham crackers. We ordered sausage pizza for dinner.
At a traditional Passover seder, you are supposed to drink 4 glasses of “kosher for Passover” wine. You will usually drink either Manischewitz or expensive Israeli wine. At our nontraditional family seder, we drank 5 glasses of wine. The wine was not kosher.

Below is a song that relates to our situation. “I could sit around feeling sorry for myself but baby, I’ve got better things to do.”
