Financial Independence vs. Chaos and Overspending for a Structured Calendar Girl

I am trying to stay on the financial independence (FI) path. However, if you looked at my spending this past month, you would not believe that.

This past month, after basic bills, I have spent nearly $300 on exercise shoes, $150 on gas, $200 on eating out, $200 on general shopping, $60 on beer (that’s low!), $100 on groceries, $100 on my chiropractor, and $100 on my hair. I generally know, to the penny, exactly how much I’ve spent so far in the month. I’m very regimented in that way.

Furthermore, I often feel like I’m cemented physically into a calendar. I have a constant calendar scrolling through my brain, and my life is this journey of catapulting from square to square to month to month. I can see the full month in my calendar mind, but I have to push an annoying little arrow to go back or forward a month or a year.

In other words, I am obsessed with time. The ephemeral calendar is not escapable for me.

Like Heimdall who hears everything, watching over the ingress and egress from Midgard, I am constantly watching over the days in the week, and making sure I don’t stray too far from my current box.

So, I’m not very spontaneous these days. I sometimes miss the Loki aspects of my former life – where change happened for good or for bad, but life was always exciting.

Now, if I could just stay within the lines of my FI journey, then I might be able to save some money!

Till next time,

Calendar Girl!
