Chicken Salad Dining #3 – Wendy’s

Wendy’s is one of the only fast food chains that is known for its chicken salads. They’ve always been good. They’ve been making salads for a long time. Way back in the 1980s, they started with a salad bar. Their salad bar grew from a modest start into the SuperBar with salad, Italian, and Mexican food. So many options, but the salad bar disappeared in 1998, being replaced with Fresh Salads to go. Their 2022 salads are a post-modern iteration of their earlier salads.

Today, the salad options included the parmesan caesar salad, the taco salad, the apple pecan salad, and the southwest avocado salad. I ordered the southwest avocado salad.

At $8.23, it was a very economical salad.

I have been detoxing lately, which is making my taste buds stronger than before. Food tastes more flavorful, and I get full faster. Still, I was surprised at how good this salad was.

The bacon may look slightly burnt in this photo, but it wasn’t. This photo doesn’t capture how perfect this bacon was. It was hot and crispy like it had just been cooked and added to the salad right before it was served. The lettuce was fresh, and the tomatoes were excellent (sometimes they are slimy in fast-food salads, but these were not). The guacamole was fantastic. The chicken was hot and tasted good. The dressing was good. It added to the flavor rather than masking it. The only part of the salad that wasn’t amazing was the cheese – it was just cheese. It didn’t add or subtract anything from the salad.

I’m not too fond of grocery store dressing (I make my own if I use it at all), but this dressing has good ingredients. It doesn’t have a bunch of unpronounceable chemicals.

The salad was large and filling, unlike the salads that some fast food chains offer.

I would highly recommend Wendy’s salad. If you’re out and about and you want something a bit healthier, it’s a lucrative option.
